Services / Programs
The Southeast Asian Program (SEA) which serves children and families of Southeast Asian descent who are at risk for, or have been diagnosed with, health problems and developmental delays. This year, we’ve included newly arrived immigrant children in our School Readiness Program. Family support services provide families with a Southeast Asian family worker whose role is to advocate and empower families with education, information and support. In 2006, the Program served 53 children, age’s two to five, from 39 families.
HOPE/In-Home Parenting Program helps with parenting, resource-building, and meeting child protection requirements for families at risk of abuse or neglect. Family Workers work with families in the home to provide individualized parent education. In 2006, the Program served 248 families.
Family Therapy provides families involved with any RLFS program sessions at their homes or on-site. Services include individual, couple, and family therapy for issues like depression, chemical use, family violence, and parenting. In 2006, the Program served 91 individuals and their families.
Unified Therapy includes occupational, speech, physical, play, and music therapy for children and adults in RLFS programs. In 2006, the Program served 240 children and their families.
Supervised Visitation provides home-like settings and support for parents whose visitation with their children must be supervised. There are two sites, one in south Minneapolis and one in north Minneapolis. In 2006, the Program served 382 families with 701 children in 3,572 supervised visits.
Rebuilding Appropriate Parenting Program (RAP) assists mothers in chemical dependency treatment or recovery to build healthy families and lifestyles. Emphasis is also placed on breaking the cycle of generational abuse. In 2006, the Program served 68 families with 146 children.
The Four Directions Family Center located adjacent to the Little Earth community, children receive American Indian culture and language instruction while in full daycare. Parents receive culturally-based advocacy, counseling, parenting education, and support groups. In 2006 the Ojibwa Language Immersion classroom opened and served 100 children, ages 16 months to 12 years, from 67 families.
Family Focus is a multi-cultural therapeutic preschool program with family support services for inner-city children. These children are at risk due to family function issues. In 2006, the Program served 165 children, ages 16 months to five years, from 116 families.
STRong Program (Strengthening Our New Generation) is a newly implemented program as of 2007 and it’s focus it to address the growing needs of our clients to integrate housing, child development, chemical dependency, and mental health services into one seamless system. Serving mothers age 25 and under, with at least one child under the age of 5, we expect to serve 75 women and their families annually.

History
Reuben Lindh Family Services (RLFS) has been serving inner-city Minneapolis children and families for 38 years. What began in a church basement as a day-activity center for six handicapped children has evolved into a formidable 10-program, leading nonprofit organization offering a unique range of programs for over 1,800 at-risk families and children.
